HAMMOND, La. – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team fell to Southeastern Louisiana University, 25-18, 20–25, 19–25, 19-25 in the Southland Conference Tournament semifinals at the University Center. The loss ends a record-breaking season for the program.      

The Cardinals (17-11, 10-8) finish the year with the most wins and most conference wins in a single season.          

Finley Evans led UIW in kills with 17. Evans also tallied 12 digs and four blocks on the night. 

The Cardinals leader in blocks, Kade Thomas, recorded six blocks to bring her season total to 109.0.   

In her final match for the Cardinals, Anuhea Faitau led the Cardinals in assists with 21. 

Audrey Patton closed out her career with UIW by leading the team in digs with 15.   

Set 1: UIW 25 (1), SLU 18 (0)    

The Cardinals controlled the entire set with the biggest deficit being only two points. UIW went up five late in the set before pulling away to take a 1-0 lead. Kyla Malone, Evans, and K. Thomas finished with three kills each.  

Set 2: UIW 20 (1), SLU 25 (1)   

UIW got out to a 6-2 lead before the Lions came roaring back. SLU used a 6-0 run to pull away late and even the scoring at 1-1. Evans led all players in kills with seven in the set.  

Set 3: UIW 19 (1), SLU 25 (2)   

The Lions never trailed in set three, using a late 4-0 run to pull ahead 2-1. Senior, Risa Sena, led the Cardinals with kills with four in the set.      

Set 4: UIW 19 (1), SLU 25 (3) 

SLU jumped out to an early six-point lead before the Cardinals came storming back. UIW managed to pull within two late, but the Lions shut the door on the Cardinals comeback.
