SAN ANTONIO — The University of the Incarnate Word women's volleyball team is set for round two in this year's Southland Conference Tournament in Hammond, Louisiana. (#5) UIW takes on (#1) SLU in the semifinal round. The Cardinals and Lions face off on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. This will be the second matchup between these two teams this season, with SLU coming away with the win in a five-set thriller.

• The Cardinals are 17-10 (10-7) after defeating UTRGV in the quarterfinals of the SLC Tournament. UIW entered the tournament with the most wins and conference wins in a single season. 

• Calissa Allison was named to the Southland Conference First Team earlier this week. She leads the Cardinals in kills with 273. Kade Thomas leads the team with blocks with 103.0. 

• Allison also leads UIW in aces (23) and has the second most digs (293) and assists (480) on the team. She also has the second most triple doubles in the nation after picking up number 11 in the quarterfinals against UTRGV. Her 11 triple-doubles are the most in UIW history in a single season and the most in a single season in conference history.  

• UIW was selected to finish eighth in the Southland Conference preseason poll but finished the regular season as the fifth seed.  

Scouting the Lions 

• SLU enters the matchup 25-4 (16-0) after sweeping ETAMU in the quarterfinals. The Lions are currently on a 25-match winning streak and haven't lost a conference match since last September.  

• Cicily Hidalgo earned All-Conference recognition, along with two other Lions. Hidalgo leads the team in kills with 380. Hidalgo is also second on the team in digs (325) and aces (36).   

• The Lions defeated the Cardinals at home in five sets 3-2 back in September. 

• SLU earned the one seed in this year's conference tournament after finishing with a 16-0 conference record.
