SAN ANTONIO — The University of the Incarnate Word women's volleyball team is set for this year's Southland Conference Tournament in Hammond, Louisiana. (#5) UIW will face (#4) UTRGV in the first round. The Cardinals and Vaqueros will face off on Friday evening at 4:00 p.m. This will be the third matchup between these two teams this season, with UTRGV winning both matches.

• The Cardinals are 16-10 (9-7) after going 0-2 in the final week of the regular season. UIW enters the tournament with the most wins and conference wins in a single season. 

• Calissa Allison was named to the Southland Conference First Team earlier this week. She leads the Cardinals in kills with 253. Kade Thomas leads the team with blocks with 98.0. 

• Allison also leads UIW in aces (23) and has the second most digs (295) and assists (461) on the team. She is also tied for second in the nation in triple-doubles with ten. Her ten triple-doubles are the most in UIW history in a single season and the most in a single season in conference history.  

• UIW was selected to finish eighth in the Southland Conference preseason poll but finished the regular season in the fifth seed.  

Scouting the Vaqueros 

• UTRGV enters the week 16-10 (12-4) on the year after going 2-0 last week.  

• Ilana De Assis earned All-Conference recognition, along with four other Vaqueros. De Assis leads the Vaqueros in kills with 359. De Assis is also second on the team in digs with 242.   

• The Vaqueros defeated the Cardinals at home and on the road earlier this season. 

• UTRGV earned the fourth seed in this year's conference tournament after finishing with a 12-4 conference record.
