Women’s Basketball Set to Host PVAMU, Travel to TCU, then Return Home for ACU

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team prepares for three games this week, starting off with Prairie View A&M at the McDermott Center on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. After the Cardinals round out a three-game home stint, they travel to Texas Christian University on Thursday for a 12 p.m. tipoff and then return home to host Abilene Christian University on Sunday, November 24 at 1 p.m.

UIW
  • The Cardinals are coming off two wins at home last week, defeating Nelson University, 85-54, and Texas Lutheran 57-51.
  • UIW has five student-athletes leading the scoring charge with seven points per contest. Jorja Ellliott (7.8), Brynn Lusby (7.8), Myra Bell (7.5), Raimi McCrary (7.0) and Dorian Norris (7.0) are all rounding the scoring effort for the Cardinals.
  • The Cardinals are sharing the ball well, with 51 assists on the season and 29 against Nelson University.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
  • PVAMU is off to a 2-0 start this season with wins over Texas College (105-71) and Jarvis Christian College (105-62).
  • Freshman CJ Wilson is averaging 23 points per contest after putting up 21 points on 9-for-13 shooting in game one and 25 points on 11-for-14 shooting in game two. Crystal Schultz is also adding 17.5 points per game with six made 3-pointers on the season.
  • Both Amauri Williams and Jelissa Reese are averaging double-doubles for the Panthers.
  • The Cardinals and Panthers faced each other last season on November 27, 2023 where UIW won, 57-44.
SCOUTING THE HORNED FROGS
  • TCU started off the season on a three-game win streak and is set to face No. 13 NC State on Sunday, November 17 before facing the Cardinals on Thursday.
  • The Horned Frogs defeated two SLC foes in Houston Christian and New Orleans and then capped off the win streak, defeating Texas State.
  • Four student-athletes are averaging double-digit points for TCU. Sedona Prince (19.3), Hailey Van Lith (17), Madison Conner (16.7), and Taylor Bigby (11.7) lead the Horned Frogs. Prince and Van Lith are also adding around eight rebounds per contest.
  • Last season, the Cardinals narrowly fell to TCU 61-55 on November 15, 2023.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
  • ACU is 2-2 with losses against Southland Conference foe, Stephen F. Austin, 68-65, and North Texas, 68-65. The Wildcats face Texas Tech and Western Kentucky before coming to UIW on Sunday, November 24.
  • Bella Earle leads the scoring effort with 17.5 per contest. She was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week following a career-high 26 points against Florida International University. She also leads the team in rebounds, pulling down 7.8 per game.
  • Payton Hull adds 15.5 points, with two 20-plus scoring outing on the season against Southwest (NM) and North Texas.
  • The Cardinals last saw the Wildcats on March 10, 2022 where UIW fell, 81-70.
