SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team split their Ohio Valley Conference games this week. First beating Eastern Illinois 4-1 Thursday night and tying Southern Indiana 0-0 on Sunday afternoon.
In the first game of the week the Cardinals had a breakthrough with the offense. After playing the first 45 minutes scoreless UIW was on the attack the break. In the 59
th minute Paco Segura made moves down the right side of the field and found William Fagerburg in the box and the Cardinals led 1-0. A few minutes later Tim Ospina took a shot from outside of the box, firing it into the back of the goal for a 2-0 lead. UIW kept the pressure on and
Diego Robles scored the third Cardinal goal of the night.
Eastern Illinois responded getting one goal on the board, however, UIW put the Panthers away with a
Rochaine Baker goal. UIW got their second straight OVC win, 4-1.
On Sunday morning UIW took on Southern Indiana. Once again after 45 minutes the Cardinals were in a 0-0 game. However, this game would end very differently as both teams remained level though the full 90.
