SAN ANTONIO - The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team will host the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) at 7 p.m on Friday, October 11th and Houston Christian (HCU) on Sunday, October 13th at 1 p.m, both at Gayle & Tom Benson Stadium.

UIW  

• The Cardinals are 5-5-2 on the 2024 season and 2-2 in Southland Conference (SLC) play. 

• UIW dropped their first two SLC matches of the season before picking up two 1-0 wins on the road over Nicholls and McNeese State. 

• Sophomore goalkeeper Erica Defferding posted two shutouts in the Cardinals two road wins, helping her win SLC goalkeeper of the week honors. She has four shutouts on the year and has 58 saves in 11 starts. 

• Sophomore midfielder Alex Knutson scored her team-high third goal of the season against Nicholls off a left-footed curler into the top left corner.  

UTRGV 

• The Vaqueros are 5-4-4 overall and 1-1-3 in SLC play. They are coming off a 1-0 win over HCU and 4-1 defeat to Stephen F. Austin. 

• UIW is 2-3-1 all-time against the Vaqueros and won the previous matchup between the team 2-0 on August 23, 2023 in San Antonio. 

• Savannah Frisby lead UTRGV in points (11) and goals (5), while Rosie Train has has six assists on the year. 

• Goalkeeper Heid Sigurdartdottir has 26 saves in 10 games played.  

HCU 

• The Huskies are 3-7-3 in 2024 and 1-2-1 in SLC play. 

• HCU lost their previous outing on the pitch 1-0 to UTRGV. 

• Junior Alexa Huerta leads the Huskies in points (8), goals (3) and assists (2). 

• Freshman goalkeeper Emmy McKeon has 55 saves in 11 starts.
