SAN ANTONIO- The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team fell 0-3 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a heated match on Tuesday night.
In their first matchup this season, the Cardinals were swept by the third-seeded Islanders. Though losing the match, UIW showed big improvements on both sides of the floor.
Annamarie Alvarez showed her toughness for the Cardinals collecting 12 kills throughout the game. Alvarez's kills came at crucial moments when trying to stop the momentum push from the Islanders. In set two alone, she had four kills. Kade Thomas also helped UIW stay in the game with seven kills and a match-high five blocks. The sophomore has been a consistent force for the Cardinals.
UIW will have a small break as they host another conference matchup Thursday night. They'll face McNeese at 6 p.m.
