SAN ANTONIO- The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team will host back-to-back Southland Conference games at home on Tuesday and Thursday night. On Tuesday, September 26, the Cardinals face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 6 p.m. On Thursday night, September 28, they'll take on third-seeded McNeese.

TAMU-CC (UIW, 0-3)
In the latest matchup between the two, the Islanders swept the Cardinals in a three-set match at the McDermott Center. In their total 17 meetups in history, TAMU-CC is undefeated.
Risa Sena led UIW in the match with 13 kills and five digs. Annamarie Alvarez and Kyla Malone each added on seven kills with Malone picking up eight digs as well. The Cardinals only achieved 31 kills compared to the Islanders 55. All three of the Islanders big hitters in the match will be returning for Tuesday's game.
McNeese (UIW, 0-3)
Last year's match between the Cardinals and the Cowgirls was a thriller. McNeese took the sweep, but that hardly tells the story of the game.
With no set won by more than an average of four points, the box scores were filled. The Cowgirls only outkilled UIW by five attacks, as the Cardinals collected a total of 40 kills on the night. Alvarez finished the match with 12 kills and Finley Evans with nine. Allison Palmi saw some action as well, finishing with nine kills and two digs.
UIW (8-6)
The Cardinals are off to a rocky conference start as they head into this week 0-2 in the SLC. Dropping to sixth on the latest conference poll, UIW is looking to turn their journey around.
Senior Allison Palmi is currently leading the way offensively. With a total of 146 kills so far on the year, Palmi is averaging an impressive 3.04 kills per set. Kyla Malone has proven to be one of the most consistent hitters for UIW. In her sophomore year, she has accumulated 131 kills on 377 total attacks. She's averaging 2.73 kills per set. Malone is also helping the Cardinals on the defensive end. With the second highest total on the team, Malone has picked up 117 digs.
