Women’s Soccer Hosts Lamar to Open Southland Conference Play

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team hosts reigning Southland Conference champions Lamar University on Sunday, September 17 at 1 p.m. at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium with free admission.  

How to Follow Home Games 

UIW 

  • The Cardinals are 3-2-1 entering conference play. Last week, UIW dropped its first home game against Sam Houston State, 1-0. Goalkeeper Erica Defferding totaled six saves in the loss.  

Scouting the Cardinals 

  • Lamar is 4-2-1 this season and sits at the top of the SLC standings, just above UIW.  

  • Hollie Massey leads the Cardinals with three goals. Lamar has two players with two assists each to lead the team.  

  • Goalkeeper Nicole Panis has started every game for the Cardinals totaling 13 saves entering the week.
