SAN ANTONIO- The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team will play a midweek matchup on the road Tuesday (9/12) at UTRGV. After coming off a successful 2-1 weekend in Boca Raton, Florida, the Cardinals look to keep the momentum high in Edinburg.

UTRGV (5-4)
This will be the eighth meeting in history between these two teams. In all time, UTRGV has the upper hand over the Cardinals, winning six of the last seven matchups.
In their last meetup in 2021, the Vaqueros took the win in a tight three sets. For UIW, only five currently active players saw time in the match. Annamarie Alvarez and Risa Sena finished with five kills each while Natalie Kimmel picked up 11 digs and 12 assists.
UIW (7-2)
The Cardinals have been on a roll to start their 2023 campaign. Over the weekend UIW achieved its second and third-highest offensive kill count with 58 against Bethune-Cookman and 56 against Youngstown State. Not to mention, the Cardinals are leading the Southland Conference in a lot of categories such as points per set, assists, kills, and overall wins. The momentum has been high as they continue a current two-game win streak.
Junior Allison Palmi is leading the front row attack with 107 kills on this season. Annamarie Alvarez has 67 kills, but the best attack percentage in the Southland Conference. With a .479, Alvarez has shown her killer instinct early on.
Though UIW leads the SLC in assists, Natalie Kimmel has collected the sixth-highest in the conference. Kimmel is averaging 5.71 assists per set with her total of 177 on the season. Anuhea Faitau is right under her with 175 on the season and a 5.65 average per set.
