SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team takes on the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRTV) on Thursday, August 24, at 4 p.m. at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium with free admission.

The Cardinals are 2-0 to start the 2023 season, the first undefeated start since 2015. Last week, UIW defeated Rice University, 2-0, and Prairie View A&M, 7-0. Five student-athletes scored a goal in the dominating performance against the Panthers.

Forwards Sierra Wannamaker and Addison Rodriguez led the Cardinals in goals last week with two. Wannamaker scored a goal each against Rice and PVAMU, while sophomore Rodriguez scored her first two career goals against the Panthers.

Scouting the Vaqueros

UTRGV is 1-1 this season, with a win against Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and a loss against Southeastern Louisiana. Two Southland Conference foes that the Cardinals will be facing later in the season.

Abbie Bailey and Rosie Train led the Vaqueros in goals with one each. Linnea Eld leads the Vaqueros in assists with two.
