SAN ANTONIO- The University of the Incarnate Word Softball team fell to the Texas Longhorns in the last game of the Texas Classic by a score of 8-0.
The Cardinals were led by Giselle Villarreal, who nabbed the only hit of the day in the top of the third. In that play, Villarreal nailed a double through right field taking her place on second base.
Pitching wise, UIW saw many changes in the circle. Three different Cardinals took their turn pitching against the nationally ranked team. Aaliyah Garcia started in the circle pitching the first three innings and adding a strikeout to her stats. Madison Floyd and Maddy Blake took the rest of the innings, as Blake tabbed her first appearance for the season in this game.
The Cardinals will now get ready for a quick turnaround as they face UTSA at their home field on Tuesday afternoon.
