Box Score RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Tx – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team lost a close one on the road to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley 77-74.
 
Shon Robinson led the team in scoring with 21 points, Sky Wicks recorded another double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Alex Anderson added 13 points of his own.
 
The Cardinals started out by sharing the love, with first 14 points being scored by five different players. Alex Anderson quickly took over the scoring role for UIW, scoring 11 points, helping the Cards push their lead to nine, 26-17, halfway through the first.
 
UIW was able to stretch their lead to 13, 32-19, but saw that comfortable lead slip away as the Vaqueros went on a 15-4 run to make it a two-point game. The teams traded buckets in the final few minutes of the half and the Cardinals went into the break up 41-37.
 
The script was flipped in the second half. UTRGV came out of the break hot and worked their way to a double-digit lead midway through the second half. Shon Robinson stepped up and scored six straight for the Cardinals and the lead was cut to two, 65-67.
 
It was a battle down the stretch and with about 1:30 left in the game Dylan Hayman made a move to the corner, knocking down a jumper to give UIW the 73-71 lead. In the end UTRGV was able to tie the game and secure the 77-74 win with four free throws.
