Box Score SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team won in walk-off fashion against Jacksonville State University.
Shon Robinson scored seven points and hit the game winning shot,
Sky Wicks had another 21-point game, and
Josiah Hammons added 15.
It was a slow start for the Cardinals falling behind 8-0 early. UIW rallied and went on a 13-1 to retake the lead. The Cardinals clamped down on defense for the remainder of the half, they were able to force four steals and six blocks in the first 20 minutes. On the other end the Cardinals scored just about the same from behind the arch as they did in the paint, knocking down six 3-pointers in the half. UIW went into the break, up 38-24.
The Cardinals were outscored 42-29 in the second half. The Gamecocks were able to cut the UIW lead to single digits just under five minutes left in the game. With 52 seconds left in the game Kyky Tandy hit a 3-pointer to give Jax State their first lead of the half. The Gamecocks were able to extend their lead four and
Shon Robinson went on to knock down three free-throws making the deficit one, 66-65.
In the last few seconds of the game UIW forced a turnover and got the ball back with 2.2 seconds on the clock.
Shon Robinson caught the ball driving down the left side of the court and took the final shot. He converted giving the Cards the lead and the 67-66 win.
