SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team will play in back-to-back home games this week week. First, they will take on Eastern Illinois University Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. CT in the annual pink game. The team will then invite alumni to visit for their matchup against University of Southern Indiana on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
UIW
- The Cardinals earned their first ever OVC win last win in their 3-2 victory over Chicago State University.
- Edu Perez had a pair of goals and an assist last week, scoring the most points for UIW.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
- This is the first time the Cardinals and Panthers have met EIU, both head coach Kiki Laura and assistant coach Carlos Sendin spent time coaching at Eastern Illinois between 2015-2019.
- Casey Welage leads the Panthers in assists with three, his most recent coming on a game winner to Sam Eccles against Lindenwood.
- Eccles leads EIU in goals scored this season.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- SIU started conference play slow dropping their first two games on the road to Southern Illinois University and Lindenwood.
- The Eagles lead the OVC in saves this season 26 by Andrew Klott, Alex Meissner has 23, and Branden Matthews has made eight.
- Four different players have scored for Southern Indiana all with one goal.
