SAN ANTONIO – Twice this week, the University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team will face the Islanders of Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. The Cardinals travel south to Corpus Christi on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. tip then host the Islanders on Saturday at the McDermott Center at 2 p.m.

• In the last three matchups against the Islanders, the Cardinals have lost by less than 10 points.
• TAMUCC holds the all-time series, 17-2

 
UIW

• The Cardinals are 5-6 on the season and 0-1 in Southland Conference play following a 64-61 loss against Texas A&M University – Commerce on Saturday.
• UIW's defense continues to limit opponents to just 55.4 points per contest to lead the conference.
• Nina De Leon Negron is the leading scorer with 12.5 points per game. She also tops the team in assists (27) and steals (20).
• Destiny Terrell continues to clean up the boards with 5.1 rebounds per contest.

 
TAMUCC

• The Islanders are 6-6 overall and defeated Northwestern State, 65-50, to open SLC play.
• TAMUCC picked up a few big wins over Texas State, UTRGV and Western Colorado.
• Makinna Serrata is averaging 11.3 points per game, while Alecia Westbrook is adding 9.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest. Westbrook leads the conference in rebounds.
