Men’s Basketball Set to Take on Islanders Twice this Week

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team will take on Texas A&M- Corpus Christi in back-to-back games this week, first on Wednesday night in Corpus at 7:30 p.m. and then on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the McDermott Center.

The Cardinals fell to Texas A&M Commerce in their first Southland Conference game of the season in overtime, 82-74. Jonathan Cisse matched his second-highest scoring night so far this season with 22 points against the Lions. Cisse leads UIW in all scoring categories (points, field goals, 3-pointers, and free throws). The Cardinals currently lead the Southland in team defense, allowing the fewest points per game (71.21).
 
After winning last season's Southland Conference tournament, the Islanders were picked to win the conference in the preseason poll. The Islanders currently lead the SLC with an 8-6 overall record and are 1-0 in conference play. AMCC is led by Isaac Mushila who is averaging a double-double with 14.3 points per game and 9.7 rebounds.
