SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team fell to McNeese State University, 69-34, on Thursday night at the McDermott Center.
 
Destiny Terrell, 
Myra Bell, and 
Jorja Elliott each finished with seven points on the night.
 
The Cardinals came within one point of the Cowgirls twice in the first quarter. First, after a jumper from 
Myra Bell followed by a 3-pointer from 
Jorja Elliott (10-9). McNeese answered with two buckets, but 
Destiny Terrell sank two free throws to bring the score to 12-11. The Cowgirls then went on a 13-point run to end the first 25-11.
 
UIW was outscored 15-5 in the second quarter as McNeese headed into the locker room with a 40-16 advantage. The Cowgirls held onto their lead to ultimately win the game, 69-34.
 
The Cardinals are back at the McDermott Center on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip against Nicholls.
