The Cardinals fell in two close games last week, first in overtime to New Orleans (79-85) and then by four to Southeastern Louisiana (71-75). Positive takeaways from last week's games include Jonathan Cisse scoring double figures in both games and Niki Krause having a career night scoring 19 points and going five-for-five from the 3-point line against SLU, the most points and 3-pointers he has made in a single game. After last week, the Cardinals still have the second-best free throw percentage in the Southland, shooting nearly 74 percent from behind the line.

HCU is currently ranked sixth in the conference with a 6-12 overall record and is 3-2 in SLC play. Brycen Long led the Huskies to two conference wins last week, scoring a career-high 32 points to earn Player of the Week honors.

Lamar is just ahead of UIW in the standings after starting the season 5-13 overall and 1-4 in the conference. The Cardinals picked up their first SLC win last week against Nicholls. Nate Calmese leads the team averaging 16.5 points per game, but others have been big contributors, most recently with Yuto Yamanouchi scoring 18 points to go along with his 11 rebounds against TAMU – Commerce.
