SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team is set to take on New Orleans on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday at 2 p.m. Both games will be held at the McDermott Center and will be followed by the men's basketball team.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
- The Cardinals and Privateers last saw each other on Feb. 12, 2022, in New Orleans. The Privateers won, 78-57.
- UIW saw the Lions in the Southland Conference Championship where they defeated SLU, 56-52 in overtime to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
UIW
- The Cardinal defense continues to hold opponents to 56.4 points per game.
- Nina De Leon Negron is the leading scorer with 12.4 points per contest to go along with 31 assists and 26 steals on the season.
- Destiny Terrell is a threat on the boards for the Cardinals, pulling down around five rebounds each game.
PRIVATEERS
- New Orleans is 2-10 this season and 1-2 in the Southland Conference with a win over Lamar.
- DeArica Pryor is leading the team with 13.8 points per game, while second-leading scorer Nora Francois is contributing 8.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest.
- Luu-Brown Hennessey has averaged 17 points through the three SLC games for the Privateers.
LIONS
- SLU is 7-6 so far this season and 2-1 in the Southland Conference with wins over Houston Christian and Nicholls.
- The Lions are also holding their opponents to 56 points per contest.
- Alexius Horne (12) and Hailey Giaratano (11) lead the team in scoring. Chrissy Brown is pulling down 6.5 rebounds per game. Horne has also collected seven blocks this season, while Taylor Bell leads the team with nine.
