SAN ANTONIO - The University of Incarnate Word women's volleyball team heads to Charleston, South Carolina this weekend (Sept. 9-10) to play in the annual College of Charleston (CofC) Invitational. The tournament, hosted by the CofC, will also include Wofford College and Coastal Carolina University.
Game play will begin on Friday for the Cardinals as they face off against the Charleston Cougars at 6 p.m. CT. To conclude the tournament, UIW will face two matchups on Saturday, Coastal Carolina at 9 a.m. and the Wofford Terriers at 3:30 p.m.
Only the first match against the CofC will be televised on the FloSports Network. However, you can keep up with the live stats of Saturday's games

Match One: UIW (1-3) vs. College of Charleston (2-4) | Friday, September 9 at 6 p.m. Â

The Last Time They Met
In 2017, the Cardinals saw play with the CofC at the Cougar Challenge Tournament in Pullam, Washington. The Cougars took the match 3-0.
UIW
The Cardinals opened the 2022 season with a dominating sweep over Texas Southern in the Cardinal Classic. In that same tournament, UIW faced 2021 Sun Belt Conference Runner Ups, Texas State twice, ultimately falling both times 3-0. The Cardinals are currently coming off a 3-1 loss against Tarleton State University this past Tuesday.
Leading the Cardinals are junior
Allison Palmi and freshman
Finley Evans. Both have combined for 66 of UIW's 138 kills this season. The Cardinals currently lead the Southland Conference with service aces for the season.
Taylor Stoops, who has already acquired eight of her own, and
Audrey Patton (5) make up the number one and two spots in conference standings, while
Allison Palmi sits in fourth place.
Defensively, the Cardinals are cleaning up at the net.
Jacqueline Arrington accounts for 14 of the 26 blocks the Cardinals have tallied this season. Arrington comes off Tuesday's game hot earning a career-best nine blocks. Next behind her is
Kade Thomas with nine blocks for the season.
