TULSA, Okla. – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team faced Oral Roberts University (ORU) in Tulsa, Oklahoma Monday night. The Cardinals fell 4-0 after a 90-minute physical battle.
The game started at a high tempo with both teams trying to assert their dominance. It was Oral Roberts who broke the deadlock after 15 minutes when their forward intercepted a pass close to the UIW goal and finished to make the score 1-0.
UIW fought back, but the physicality of the Golden Eagles would prove too much for the Cardinals as in the sixtieth minute, ORU broke down the left-hand side to make it 2-0.
The attacks continued with UIW conceding two goals in the next 10 minutes, leaving the score line at the end of the game 4-0.
The Cardinals return to action in the first home game of the season on Wednesday, September 21 with a 12 p.m. kick-off at Benson Stadium.
