COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team fell to Texas A&M University, 10-2, on Tuesday evening at Davis Diamond.
Ashley Trapp started the game in the circle for the Cardinals, striking out two Aggies.
Natalie Myers entered in the bottom of the fifth inning before
Annie Gunther came in the game to close.
Savannah Behabetz, Aalyiah Garcia,
Maddie Boldt,
Teanna Lucio and
Maddison Guillen all registered a hit for UIW.
Garcia plated the Cardinals' first run in the top of the second inning, taking advantage of an Aggie error as UIW took an early, 1-0 lead. TAMU answered in the bottom of the second, plating two runs to regain the edge, 2-1.
After holding the Aggies scoreless in the bottom of the third inning, Boldt knocked a hard hit to left-center field that bounced over the outfield wall to register a ground-rule double. Guillen traded places with Boldt, using an RBI double to tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning.
TAMU made a pitching change and the momentum ultimately stayed on its side. The Aggies went on to take a 10-2 victory at Davis Diamond.
UP NEXT
The Cardinals return home to host Southland Conference foe Houston Baptist University. The three-game series begins with a doubleheader on Friday, April 8, at 4 p.m. CT; the second game will begin 30 minutes after the completion of game one.
