New Orleans, La. – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team fell to the University of New Orleans, 78-57, Saturday afternoon at Lakefront Arena.
Nine student-athletes scored for the Cardinals.
Destiny Terrell and
Tiana Gardner contributed nine points each and
Jamie Means registered three blocks.
The Cardinals started on a 5-0 run over the Privateers following a layup from
Myra Bell and a trey from
Hanna Wheeler. UNO quickly answered, securing the lead (8-7) with six minutes left in the first before ending the quarter with an 18-11 advantage.
UNO jumped to a 20-point lead in the second quarter, shooting 75 percent from the field. Terrell leaked out for a layup in the third quarter to cut the Privateer's edge to 17 (59-42) with two minutes left in the third. UNO ultimately won the game, 78-57.

The Cardinals host a pair of games against Northwestern State University on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 5:30 p.m. CT and Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. at the McDermott Center.
