SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football team is traveling to California to face the No. 2 Sacramento State Hornets on Friday, Dec. 9, at 9:30 p.m. CT in the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs.

- The Cardinals are coming off a 41-38 win over Furman University to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
- UIW's offense now sits at the top of the Southland charts for the most points scored in a season with 623. The Cardinals also rank second nationally in total offensive yards per game (584.9).
- Lindsey Scott Jr. was one of three finalists invited to the 2022 Walter Payton Award Announcement Ceremony.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
- Sacramento State's 38-31 win over Richmond is the first playoff win in Division I history.
- The Hornets are 12-0 overall this season and 8-0 in conference finishing first in the Big Sky.
- Running back Cameron Skattebo has rushed for over 1,200 yards this season averaging 106 yards per game.
- Armon Bailey has 82 total tackles (43 solo) this season.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
- Sacramento State leads the all-time series 2-0
- The last time these two teams met, the Cardinals fell 56-22 in 2017.
UIW PLAYERS TO WATCH
- Scott gained 518 total yards last week, 139 rushing and 394 passing with five touchdowns. He's the twenty-fourth student-athlete in FCS history to accumulate over 4,000 career passing yards and 2,000 career rushing yards.
- Elliott Davison recorded five total tackles, three solo, along with the game-sealing interception.
- Darion Chafin and Taylor Grimes each had over 100 yards last week. Chafin had 166 yards on eight catches with three touchdowns. Grimes gained 112 yards on 11 catches and one touchdown.
- Kelechi Anyalebechi had eight total tackles, six solo, and one tackle for loss.
