Football Faces Off against NDSU in FCS Semifinals

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football team is on the road once again, traveling to North Dakota to face off against No. 3 North Dakota State University on Friday, Dec. 16, at 6:00 p.m. CT in the semifinals of the FCS playoffs.

  • The Cardinals are coming off a thrilling 66-63 win over Sacramento State University to advance to the semifinals.
  • This is the furthest UIW has gone in the FCS playoffs in program history.
  • UIW maintains the highest-scoring offense in the nation, averaging 53 points per game.
  • The Cardinal offense is has scored the most points in Southland Conference history in a season, sitting at 689 through 13 games.
 
SCOUTING THE BISON
 
  • North Dakota State has gone 11-2 this season placing second in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
  • The Bison are coming off a 27-9 win over the Samford Bulldogs.
  • This is the thirteenth consecutive season NDSU has been in the FCS playoffs.
  • Dawson Webber led the team last week with 10 tackles and grabbed the game-winning interception, which is his third on the season.

  • North Dakota State won the only matchup between the Cardinals and the Bison in 2014.
 
UIW PLAYERS TO WATCH
 
  • Lindsey Scott Jr. has now passed for 4,404 yards and 59 touchdowns this season and has the best passing efficiency in the nation at 207.02.
  • Darion Chafin has the most receiving touchdowns in FCS with 17 this season and is third in yards with 1,211.
  • Taylor Grimes is third in the nation with 15 touchdowns and ninth with 1,144 receiving yards this season.
  • Carson Mohr has made 74 straight PAT kicks and is 87-of-89 on the season. The FCS record currently stands at 90-of-92.
