SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team defeated Schreiner University,92-41, Monday afternoon during the elementary school game.
Destiny Terrell and
Nina De Leon Negron finished with 16 points apiece, while
Breelyn Sanborn added 15.
Myra Bell tallied four steals and Terrell lead the team in rebounds with six.
Schreiner started the game off hot scoring the first 11 points, however, UIW was able to quickly respond with a run of their own, scoring 19 unanswered points to finish the first quarter with a 19-11 lead.
In the second quarter, the UIW offense was rolling scoring 31 points, shooting 63 percent from field goal range and 70 percent from behind the arch. The Cardinals knocked down seven 3-pointers in the second, five of which came from freshman Sanborn, to push the lead to 50-28 going into halftime.
Coming out of the break UIW was able to keep the pressure up forcing 10 steals in the second half and outscoring the Mountaineers 42-13 finishing the game by a final score of 92-41.

The Cardinals will be back in the McDermott center on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m. for a black-out game against UTSA.
