FORT WORTH, Texas - The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team battled hard against the women of TCU, but ultimately fell, 60-33. The Cardinals now prepare for Texas Tech on Sunday.  

Two freshmen led the way for UIW as Aliyah Collins finished with eight points and Jorja Elliott followed close behind with five points, shooting 66 percent from the field. The Cardinals' bench outscored TCU's 20-19 overall. Four Cardinals pulled down three rebounds apiece (Collins, Myra Bell, Yuliyana Valcheva, and Elliott), while Kaylee Howell secured a block for the team. 

UIW came within five points in the first quarter. After facing the basket to embrace the double team, Chloe Storer found Brenna Perez on the left side to hit a three and make the game 10-5. In the second, the Cardinals held the Horned Frogs to only seven points and forced four turnovers, but still faced a 27-14 TCU lead.  

To close out the game strong, UIW saw their largest amount of points scored in the fourth quarter as the bench totaled 11 points, holding the Horned Frogs to only 11 as well.  

UIW is back in action as they take on the Lady Raiders of Texas Tech, Sunday (Dec. 4) at 2 p.m.
