Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team picked up three straight wins thanksgiving week before falling to UTSA in the final game of the MTE tournament on Monday night by a score of 68-62. The Cardinals defeated OLLU, Dartmouth University, and Grambling State.

Jonathan Cisse making his first starts of the season led the team averaging 19 points over the last four games. Trey Miller also had a couple of high scoring games but made the biggest impact on the defensive end recording 10 steals in the last four games.

In the first matchup of the week, the Cardinals took on a local opponent in Our Lady of the Lake University. The game began with both teams trading baskets until midway through the first half when OLLU went on 7-1 run giving them a six-point lead. Trey Miller then scored three unanswered buckets, which spurred the UIW offense allowing them to retake the lead and head into the half up, 44-32. Coming out of the break the Cardinal offense continued to roll as UIW gained a 28-point edge with 13 minutes left in the game. The Saints slowly started to chip away at UIW's lead, behind six 3-pointers, however, it was too little too late, and the Cardinals won the game 85-76.

Later in the week, UIW took on Dartmouth University in the first game of the San Antonio Shootout Tournament. Both teams started off slow, missing the first five shots of the game. Dartmouth quickly caught fire going on a 12-3 run to take an early lead. However, the Cardinals responded by scoring 10 straight points taking a 13-12 lead. Jonathan Cisse
took over the game, adding 11 more points in the half, helping push the UIW lead to six at halftime. In the second half UIW's hustle plays forced 14 steals as the Cardinals scored 25 points off of turnovers. Cisse finished the game with 22 points to go along with 17 from Davante Dennis and 15 from Miller to give UIW the 69-64 win.

On Sunday evening the Cardinals faced off against Grambling State. The first half was all about the Cardinals as UIW was up by as many as 13 points and only trailed for two minutes in the entire half. UIW went into the break with a five-point lead, 29-24. In the second half, Grambling State responded taking back the lead by six points, 60-54, with 49 seconds left in the game. In the final seconds, UIW went on a 9-1 run and
forced two steals, by Dennis and Swaby, in an amazing comeback taking the game by a final score of 63-61.

In the final game of the tournament, UIW faced UTSA. The first half was back and forth with eight lead changes, but UTSA held a six-point lead at halftime (32-26). Coming out of the break UTSA extended the lead to 10 but UIW refused to back down, once again going on a 14-2 run to regain the lead. UTSA knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers and maintained the lead for the rest of the game snapping the Cardinals' win streak, 68-62.
