SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football team returns to Gayle & Tom Benson Stadium for a Southland Conference matchup against the Lamar Cardinals on Oct. 8 at 4 pm.

- UIW is ranked No. 10 in the Stats Perform FCS Poll. and No. 11 in the AFCA Coaches Poll.
- The Cardinal offense is second in the nation for yards per game with 369.8. The Cardinals are also currently ranked third in scoring (46.6), passing efficiency (196.7), and total offense (541.8) in the country.
- UIW's defense leads the nation in team sacks (4.4) and is third in team tackles for loss (10.4).
SCOUTING THE LAMAR CARDINALS
- Lamar was picked to finish seventh in the 2022 Southland Preseason Poll.
- Lamar is 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the SLC. The Cardinals fell to Houston Christian last Saturday by 37-34.
- Sevonne Rhea averages 68.4 receiving yards a game for the Cardinals.
- Tyler Jackson leads the Lamar defense with 40 total tackles this season.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
- UIW and Lamar are tied in the all-time series 4-4. UIW has won the last two matchups and four of the last five.
- UIW took on Lamar two seasons ago in the Spring of 2021 winning that matchup, 42-20.
UIW PLAYERS TO WATCH
- Lindsey Scott Jr. leads the nation in passing efficiency (198.41) and is second in both passing yards (1,778) and passing touchdowns (20).
- Kelechi Anyalebechi averages 7.6 solo tackles per game to claim the number one spot nationally.
- Chris Whittaker has the most sacks in the nation this season with 7.5 and is the leader for sacks per game with 1.5.
- Taylor Grimes (6) and Darion Chafin (5) lead UIW in receiving TD's. Chafin is averaging 91.8 yards per game.
