CHARLESTON - The historic Patriots Point Soccer Stadium provided a tough game for the young University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team. UIW broke College of Charleston early, however technical faults cost UIW from creating real chances on goal. Charleston began to feel more comfortable as the game went on and switched the play often causing problems for the UIW wingbacks as the Cougars won, 2-0.
In the 3
rd minute, the Cougars would score the opening goal after an error from the UIW defense allowed a ball to fall in the area with no one marking Murray, who scored from inside the 18-yard box.
UIW would gain some control in the first half but were dealt a brutal blow three minutes before halftime when Charleston would capitalize on a counterattack breaking down the left side and finding White in the center of the field to make it 2-0 going into the half.
The Cardinals gained more control in the second half and managed to outshoot the Cougars in the second, but both teams didn't create any real chances to turn the game to their advantage leaving the score 2-0 to the College of Charleston after 90 minutes.
UIW returns to action on Saturday night against San Jose State University in San Jose, CA for a 9 p.m. kick off (CT)
