Football Set to Take on the Eagles for Military Appreciation Game

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football team returns to Gayle and Tom Benson stadium to take on the Faulkner Eagles this Saturday, Oct. 22, at 2 pm. This is a non-conference game for the Cardinals and will also be the military appreciation game, sponsored by USAA.

UIW remains No. 8 in the Stats Perform FCS Poll. and No. 10 in the AFCA Coaches Poll.
The Cardinal offense is second in the nation in total offensive yards with 3,951 and third for points per game with 48.3.
UIW leads the Southland in yards per play with 7.72.
The Cardinal defense is ranked first in the nation for tackles for loss per game with 9.6 and sixth in the nation with 3.57 sacks per game.
UIW looks to secure its tenth straight win at Benson Stadium.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES

The Eagles are currently sixth in the NAIA Mid-South Conference.
Faulkner is 3-4 this season and is coming off a 37-7 loss to Lindsey Wilson College.
Jaiveyon Tucker leads all Eagles receivers with seven touchdowns and 443 receiving yards through seven games.
Defensive back Jerrell Williamson leads the team in solo (31) and total (56) tackles this season.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET

This is the first time the Cardinals and Eagles will meet.

UIW PLAYERS TO WATCH

Lindsey Scott Jr. is first in the Southland and second in the country averaging 358 passing yards a game. Scott also leads the nation in passing efficiency (210.5) and point responsibility (32.6) per game.
Chris Whittaker is leading the Southland with seven sacks and is sixth in forced fumbles with two this season. He sits at number seven in the sack national rankings.
Kelechi Anyalebechi is fourth in the Southland with 63 total tackles on the season.
