Cardinals back at home, take on Northwestern State Saturday

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football team returns to Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium on Saturday, April 10 to host Northwestern State at 7 p.m. CT.

SCOUTING UIW 
  • UIW broke into the top 15 in both the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 (No.13) and the AFCA Coaches Poll (No. 15) marking the highest rankings in program history.   
  • Freshman quarterback Cameron Ward set a new UIW record in the 56-45 upset over Southeastern Louisiana recording six touchdown passes and carrying one in. He matched that record the following game against Nicholls with six TD passes.  
  • Ward racked in two weekly honors as he was named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week and was named National Freshman Player of the Week for the second time this season.  
  • Ward is three touchdown passes away from breaking the single-season record for passing touchdowns.  
  • Carson Mohr has been perfect on extra points this season going 23-for-23 and has made his last 42 attempts dating back to Oct. 26, 2019, against Northwestern State. 
  • The Cardinal offense is ranked first in the nation for total offensive yards with 592.2. 
  • The offensive line is controlling the line of scrimmage allowing just two tackles for loss to lead the league and rank first in the nation.  
  • Kevin Brown leads the nation in rush yards per carry, averaging 11.98. The senior is also the second-best in the nation in rushing yards per game (137.8.7) and fifth in the nation in all-purpose yards (165.25). 
  • Brown has three straight games averaging over 10 yards per carry with at least 10 carries and is the only other FCS player to do that in the last 10 years (Julius Chestnut, 2018). 
  • Ward leads the nation in points responsible for per game averaging 32.0 in the first three games of the season. 
  • Tre Wolf's 183 yards receiving against SLU are a season-high and rank third-best in a single game at UIW.  
  • Kelechi Anyalebechi's 17 tackles against Lamar are tied for most in a single game in program history. 
 
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN STATE 
  • On the ground, Scooter Adams leads the Demons as he has gained 486 yards this season on 65 attempts, averaging 7.3 yards per carry and has scored four TDs. Adams had a season-high game against Lamar when he rushed for 212 yards.  
  • Quarterback Bryce Rivers is averaging 153.5 yards per game for a pass completion percentage of 51.22% (42-82-1). Rivers passed for a season-high 410 yards in the game against Southland leader Sam Houston.  
  • In the air, Rivers has connected with Javon Antonio 20 times for two touchdowns, as Antonio is averaging 82.25 yards per game and 16.45 yards per reception.  
  • Defensively, Jomard Valsin leads the squad with 43 tackles (22 solo, 21 asst.) and has committed six tackles for a loss of 27 yards, notching two sacks for a loss of 13 yards. He has also forced three fumbles this season.  
  • Punter Scotty Roblow was named SLC Special Teams Player of the Week as he had three punts go for 50 yards.  
 
Health & Safety 
UIW Athletics has worked closely with university and local officials to provide health and safety protocols that permit a 25% capacity at Benson Stadium. All fans must: 
· Practice six feet of social distance 
· Wear masks at all times (no neck gaiters permitted) 
· Not congregate at any time while on campus 
· Clear the online Cardinal Daily Health Check 
· Complete a temperature scan upon entry

Parking & Access to Campus 
Season parking permits will be emailed to season ticket holders and qualifying Cardinals Club members. Guests with season parking permits may enter campus from N I-37/ HWY 281 from the frontage road, just past Hildebrand Ave. Permit holders will be directed to park behind the Ann Barshop Natatorium. Tailgating is not permitted on the UIW campus. 
Fans without season parking permits may purchase $10 gameday parking passes for Founders Hall (formerly AT&T building) online. 
Season parking and gameday parking MUST be purchased in advance and will NOT be available on game day. 
All parking passes will be emailed (to be printed as a PDF). 
  
Tickets 
A limited number of single-game tickets ($22) are available online at uiw.universitytickets.com. 
Season tickets ($150, includes chairback and parking) are available by calling 210-805-3000 Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. 
All tickets will be emailed (to be printed as a PDF). Tickets can also be sent to mobile devices. Please note, box offices will be closed on game day. 
All guests will enter Benson Stadium from the northeast check-in tables. Gates open one hour before kick-off. 
  
Cardinals Club 
Cardinals Club donors will have access to a boxed lunch and beverage grab and go station located in the southeast corner of the stadium. The grab-and-go station will be open one hour before kick-off through the end of halftime. A meal will be provided for each member and their designated guests. Guests must return to their seats with their meals. No hospitality seating will be provided this season. 
Concessions 
Limited concessions will be available to fans. 
  
Student Seating 
Students MUST pre-register for football seating here before midnight of gameday to gain admittance to the facility. Students that are not pre-registered will not be permitted access on game day.
