SAN ANTONIO – University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball head coach, Carson Cunningham, announced the signing of 6-11 incoming freshman Ben Griscti from Adelaide, Australia, for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
"Ben is an academic standout who has Faulkner-novel length and a Gary Cooper shot. We're excited to call him a Cardinal." Coach Cunningham said.
Griscti will be a true freshman and plans to study engineering with a mechanical track. The 6-11 forward/center played for the South Australia Premier League development team, Sturt Sabres, where he earned the U18 Player of the Year award in 2019 and led his team to a junior national championship. He played for Australia's U17 team at FIBA's Men's Oceania Championship the same year.
Ben is the son of Paul and Fiona Griscti and has two sisters, Ella and Alexandria.
"I was very impressed and excited by Coach Cunningham's vision for the program. Playing for UIW allows me to combine my love of basketball with my studies in the beautiful city of San Antonio." Griscti said.
