THIBODAUX, Louisiana – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team spilt the three-game series with Nicholls winning two games to one, securing its first Southland Conference wins.

Hailey Jackson registered her first double and her first RBIs with two in the win in game one Friday night
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
The Colonels took an early 2-0 lead heading into the top of the sixth inning.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Cardinals broke it open when
Maddie Boldt scored on a Nicholls wild pitch.
Hailey Jackson followed it up with a double to center field that scored
Savannah Behabetz and
Jazmine Torres.
UIW went on to win game one 3-2.
Game 2
It was all Cardinals' offense in game two.
Kendall McGary got UIW going with a triple that scored
Savannah Behabetz from third in the top of the third. McGary scored on a Nicholls defensive error to put the Cardinals up 2-0.
The Cardinals put the nail in the coffin in the top of the sixth when
Teanna Lucio doubled down the right-field line to score Jasmine Torres.
UIW won game two 3-0.
Game 3
The Cardinals struck first in the top of the first inning in Saturday's series finale.
Maddie Boldt hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field to score
Kendall McGary.
Savannah Behabetz followed it up later in the inning with a single to right field that scored
Bella Sanchez and
Abby Frank to take a 3-0 lead.
Nicholls scored a run in the bottom of the first and continued to add to its lead in the fifth and the sixth innings to take the 5-3 win.
UP NEXT
UIW will be back at home to continue Southland Conference action against Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Thursday. First pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m. CT.
