UIW Gets Ready to Travel to New Orleans for Another Southland Conference Matchup

SAN ANTONIO – University of the Incarnate Word women's volleyball team travels to New Orleans, Louisiana to matchup against the Privateers of the University of New Orleans (UNO) on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET (UIW, 25-19, 27-25, 15-25, 25-20)
These two programs previously matched up on March 18, 2021, when the Cardinals defeated the Privateers 3-1. Bethany Clapp led the Cardinals with 14 kills followed by Allison Plami (10). Annamarie Alvarez led the team with five total blocks followed by Chase Jackson and Clapp with two. Natalie Martin led the Cardinal offense with 33 assists on the match. Audrey Patton led the Cardinal defense with 12 digs followed by Brittney Ong (10). Macy Sumrall led the Cardinals in service aces with two.
 
UIW leads the serious 6-2 against UNO, with a 4-2 record at New Orleans.
 
UIW (6-11 Overall, 1-2 SLC)
Is coming off a two-game split week in conference play where they defeated Northwestern State 3-0 and fell to Southeastern Louisiana 0-3.
 
Bethany Clapp leads the Cardinals' offense with 153 kills on the season followed by Annamarie Alvarez (108) and Allison Palmi (101). Natalie Matin sets up the Cardinal offense tallying 352 assists followed by Pilar Gonzaba (137) and Natalie Kimmel (101). UIW's defense is led by Macy Sumrall who has registered 280 digs on the season. The defense continues through Jacqueline Arrington who leads the team with 60 total blocks followed by Nailah Landon (40) and Alvarez (30). Clapp and Sumrall lead the Cardinals at the service line combining for 30 service aces on the season.
 
NEW ORLEANS (1-10 Overall, 1-2 SLC)
Is coming off a week of two conference losses. UNO fell to Houston Baptist University and McNeese 0-3 last week bringing their conference record to 1-2.
 
Alexis Parrish leads UNO's offense with 86 kills. Lucie Pokorna has tallied 210 assists on the season. Sheilah Purcell leads their defense with 132 total digs. Sh'Diamond Holly leads UNO at the net with 33 total blocks.
