SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team is set for its third weekend of action, this time returning to the McDermott Convocation Center to host the Cardinal Challenge on Friday and Saturday. The Cardinals are set to face Northern Illinois (Friday at 11 a.m. CT), Delaware (Friday at 7 p.m.) and Niagara (Saturday at 2 p.m.).

THE CARDINALS
- The Cardinals are 2-5 overall following the 2019 Maverick Classic at UT Arlington and a single match against SMU on Sept. 6-7.
- After blanking Southern University, UIW fell to host UTA, UNC Greensboroand SMU.
- Setter Pilar Gonzaba leads the team and ranks fifth in the conference with 160 assists through seven matches.
- Middle blocker Mckayla Landreth leads UIW with a .314 attack percentage.

- NIU holds a 2-6 overall record after dropping a Monday night contest, 3-1, to Texas Tech.
- Grace Balensiefer leads the Huskies with 299 assists; she also has 13 kills and a .370 attack percentage.
- As a team, NIU holds a .187 attack percentage.

DELAWARE
- The Blue Hens are 5-1 this season after sweeping the UMBC Tournament with wins over George Mason (3-0), Saint Francis (3-0) and UMBC (3-1).
- Ayala Plummer has 16 kills with a .577 attack percentage, while Lani Mason has 70 kills and a .306 kill percentage.
- As a team, Delaware holds a .269 attack percentage.

- The Purple Eagles are 1-4 after falling in all three matches at the Cornell Invitational.
- Mary Redle leads Niagara with a .268 attack percentage. She has 42 kills and just nine errors in 123 total attacks.
- As a team, Niagara has a .162 attack percentage.
