SUGARLAND, Texas -- The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell, 5-3 to McNeese on Friday night in the Southland Conference Tournament at Constellation Field.
NOTABLES
- Taylor Smith had a perfect 3-for-3 outing with a double, a walk, a run and a RBI.
- Cody Allen suffered the loss, striking out a batter in 3.0 innings pitched.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cowboys opened scoring in the first, plating a run to take an early 1-0 advantage, but the Cardinal responded. UIW scored two runs in the fourth, first on a Smith RBI double and then on a
Lee Thomas RBI single to take a 2-1 lead.
McNeese added a run to tie it up at 2-2 in the sixth, but UIW answered again.
Ryan Flores scored on a
Ridge Rogers sacrifice fly to give the Cardinals the 3-2 lead. The Cowboys scored three runs in the bottom of the frame to regain the 5-3 advantage.
UIW battled but fell, 5-3, to McNeese to close out their SLC Tournament run.
