Box Score BEAUMONT, Texas -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team topped Lamar, 6-1, on Monday afternoon in Beaumont, Texas.
For the second consecutive season, the Cardinals have clinched a berth in the Southland Conference Tournament. The men's tennis team is the first team in UIW history to make back-to-back SLC Tournament appearances.
HOW IT HAPPENED
LU won on court three in doubles, but UIW stormed back to take the point as
Caleb Dyer and
Paco Bendana bested Carlos Paton Canal and Arthur Serafim, 6-3, on court two before
Sebastian Mortier and
Gabriel Evans defeated Nicolas Mayr and Axel Vila Antuna, 6-4, in the No. 1 spot.
In singles, Dyer (6-3, 6-1) and
Dennis Boisseau (6-2, 6-4) captured victories on courts six and five, respectively, to extend UIW's advantage. Mortier's three-set, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, win in the No. 1 spot secured the victory for the San Antonio Cardinals. Evans (6-1, 4-6, 6-3) and
Oliver Valentinsson (5-7, 6-3, 7-5) chipped in wins to secure the 6-1 triumph.
