HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears jumped out to a 7-0 lead with three runs in the first and four in the third, but the Cardinals came roaring back in the bottom half of the third inning. Delaney Guzman reached first base with one out on a single to left field and moved into scoring position on a walk from Mackenzie Stark. Angel Villanueva loaded up the bases with a sharply hit ball to left field, bringing Shaw to the plate with an opportunity to do some damage with just one out. Shaw delivered, lacing a triple through the gap in left field, bringing home all three baserunners.
The Cardinals added another run in the fourth inning off a solo blast from Shelby Neatherlin, her third home run of the year. Central Arkansas responded with three runs in the top of the sixth to extend their lead to 10-4.
Hoffman's two-RBI home run in the bottom of the sixth brought the Cardinals to within four, but UCA added three insurance runs in the seventh to secure the 13-6 victory.
