LAREDO, Texas -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis team defeated Laredo Community College, 4-1, on Wednesday at the H.E. Butt Tennis Facility at the LC Sports and Recreation Complex on the Fort McIntosh campus. The Cardinals were slated for a doubleheader against Laredo CC, but were only able to play one dual due to inclement weather.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UIW secured the doubles point quickly with wins on courts one and two.
Sebastian Mortier and
Gabriel Evans captured a 6-2 victory over Pilotto and Grijalua in the No. 1 spot, while
Paco Bendana and
Caleb Dyer defeated Ramirez and Mello, 6-4, on court two.
In singles, the Cardinals extended their advantage when Mortier had a three-set victory (6-3, 4-6, 6-3) over Pilloto, but Laredo CC took court five to cut into UIW's lead. Bendana then bested Mello, 7-5, 6-4, in the No. 3 spot before
Oliver Valentinsson used a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win on court six to take the dual victory, 4-1, for the Cardinals.

UIW is slated to face Arizona State on Friday at 10 a.m. (CT) for a neutral-site contest in Waco, Texas.
