4 Cardinals earn Southland Football All-Conference accolades

FRISCO, Texas – Four University of the Incarnate Word football student-athletes – senior offensive lineman Terence Hickman II, senior offensive lineman Brandon Floores, sophomore linebacker Kelechi Anyalebechi and freshman defensive back Jaylon Jimmerson – earned 2019 Southland Football All-Conference honors, announced the league on Tuesday.
 
Hickman II and Floores were selected third team offense, while Anyalebechi and Jimmerson were chosen third team defense.
 
"I'm proud of these four young men and the effort they put in this year," said UIW head coach Eric Morris. "They worked hard all season and I'm glad they are being recognized for it."
 
Terence Hickman II – Third Team Offense
Hickman II was a leader both on the field and off in his final season with UIW. As a starter on the offensive line, the San Antonio product helped pave the way for the Cardinal offense to rank third in the SLC with 3,771 total offensive yards (conference only). His performance also allowed UIW to throw for 2,653 yards, while contributing 1,118 rushing yards, in league play.
 
Brandon Floores – Third Team Offense
As a junior during the 2018 season, Floores stepped into the role of center on the offensive line. The La Vernia, Texas, native has been the starting center for UIW since then, helping the Cardinal offense become a prolific force in the Southland. Through Floores' efforts, UIW averaged 419.0 total offensive yards per game during league action, with 1,118 rushing yards and 2,653 yards through the air.
 
Kelechi Anyalebechi – Third Team Defense
Anyalebechi was a force to be reckoned with on the UIW defense, racking up 25 total tackles (11 unassisted, 14 assisted). He chipped in 4.5 tackles for loss for 21 yards, including 4.0 sacks for 29 yards, and two quarterback hurries. The Pearland, Texas, native also forced one fumble and recovered one fumble.
 
Jaylon Jimmerson – Third Team Defense
Jimmerson played a major role on the UIW defense. The highlight of the freshman's season came in the form of a conference-high three interceptions, which he returned for 45 yards. These interceptions contributed to UIW's 17 picks, which led the nation going in to the final regular season game. In addition, Jimmerson ranked third on the team with 43 tackles (23 unassisted, 20 assisted). The Pittsburg, Texas, product had 3.0 tackles for loss, including 1.0 sacks for one yard, and one pass breakup.
