SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team fell, 1-0, to Seattle University on Friday evening at Benson Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF:
The first period was a highly defensive competition between the two teams, resulting in a 0-0 score at the half. UIW made every effort to take the lead, firing off five shots and utilizing four corner kicks, while Seattle countered with nine shots and four corner kicks.
Carlos Mercado led the Cardinals' defense, recording five saves in the first half.
SECOND HALF:
The Cardinals held strong to their defensive effort, halting the RedHawks' advances. Seattle broke through in the 63rd minute to take a 1-0 lead. UIW used a corner kick to seek out the back of the net, but it was unable to seize the opportunity. Despite the Cardinals' powerful efforts, Seattle took a 1-0 decision over UIW.

UP NEXT
The Cardinals host San Jose State University on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. (CT) at Benson Stadium.
