SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team returns to home play on Friday as the team hosts the University of Central Arkansas at 5 p.m. (CT). Admission is free for all UIW home soccer matches.
THE GAME
UIW'S LAST TIME OUT
Cardinal goalkeeper
Cailey Croson secured her third consecutive shutout in UIW's 3-0 win over Nicholls State University (Sept. 29). This win also bumped UIW's standing in Southland Conference play to a clean 3-0. Croson stands at first in the conference in goals against average, saves and shutouts per game.
Against the Colonels,
Jade Piper netted her first goal of the season, while teammates
Brooke Hanson and
Keeley Ayala both added goals to contribute to the win. Ayala leads the conference in game-winning goals with two, while Hanson comes up right behind in second.
SCOPING THE UCA BEARS
Central Arkansas (1-8-1, 0-3 SLC) comes in to Friday night after dropping a 3-2 decision in overtime against the Lamar Cardinals (Sept. 29). The Bears came out with two quick goals in the second half and made 18 total shots on the match (eight on goal). UCA goalkeeper Reagan McCombs finished the match with seven saves.
UP NEXT
The Cardinals stay at home for a 12 p.m. Sunday match against Northwestern State University.
