RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to California Baptist University on Sunday afternoon in its last road match of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF:
The Cardinals utilized their strong defense to halt the Lancers' four shots and two corner kicks to start the first period. CBU found the back of the net in the 29th minute to take a 1-0 lead. UIW fired off two shots in an attempt to even the score, but they were unable to score. The Lancers reached the back of the net again in the 44th minute to end the first half with a 2-0 advantage.
SECOND HALF:
UIW came back on the pitch in the second period with a purpose, firing off nine shots and utilizing four corner kicks in an attempt to score. CBU countered with six shots and four corner kicks. The Lancers broke through once again in the 73rd minute to extend their lead to 3-0. The Cardinals attempted to find the net with two corner kicks and a shot on goal but were unable to execute, falling, 3-0, to CBU.

UP NEXT
The Cardinals return home to host Seattle University on Friday. The match is set for 5 p.m. (CT) at Benson Stadium.
