Volleyball Looks for Showcase Performance for Alumni Weekend

SAN ANTONIO - The University of Incarnate Word volleyball team has two matches at the McDermott Center this week as they face off against New Orleans on Thursday at 6 p.m. (CT) for the Dig Pink Match and Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT) for the Alumni Weekend game.

Alumni Weekend Information (Saturday):
  • 11 a.m. – UIW vs. SLU volleyball game (Alumni will be recognized)
  • 1 p.m. – Campus tour
  • 2 p.m. – Exclusive UIW volleyball alumni tailgate
  • 4 p.m. – UIW football vs. Northwestern State

THE CARDINALS
  • Julia Monday has led the team in kills in four out of the past six matches, totaling 84 in that span.
  • Presley Blaylock and Pilar Gonzaba are eighth and ninth in the Southland in assists per set at 6.83 and 5.98, respectively.
  • UIW is fifth in the conference in blocks with 164 (45 solo, 238 assisted) for an average of 1.98 per set.
  • Bethany Clapp (18 aces) and Alyssa Carlin (17 aces) lead the team in service aces per set at .22.
 
NEW ORLEANS
  • UIW leads the overall series, 4-2, but New Orleans has won the past two matchups.
  • The Privateers have won two out of their last three matches as they defeated Central Arkansas (3-1) and McNeese (3-0), both at home.
  • UNO sits at .500 with a record of 11-11 overall, and they are in seventh place in conference play with a 4-4 record.
 
SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA
  • UIW leads the overall series, 4-2, and has won the past four matchups, including the last three at Southeastern Louisiana.
  • The Lady Lions have won five out of their last eight matches, including victories over McNeese, Lamar, Nicholls, Southern and Abilene Christian.
  • Offensively, SLU is led by Jodi Edo with 208 kills; defensively, the Lady Lions are led by Alexis Pratt with 246 digs.
 
UP NEXT
The Cardinals' four-game home stand ends after Alumni Weekend as they travel to Lamar for Halloween on Oct. 31, and then head further east to play McNeese on Nov. 2.
