HOUSTON -- The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team nabbed the golden goal in overtime to secure a 3-2 victory over Houston Baptist on Friday night. With this overtime road win, UIW moves up to 5-1 in conference play (6-7 on the season).

- Keeley Ayala secured her sixth penalty kick goal on the season, while also tacking on her fifth multiple-point game (SLC) and her fourth outing with a game-winning goal (SLC).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals came out in Friday night's match with a steady defensive force, pushing the ball up the line. Hanson set up a cross 10 minutes in, and
Eve Clarkson answered with a boot to the back of the net, notching the opening goal for a 1-0 UIW advantage.
The Huskies returned to score one in the 17th minute, but UIW advanced to reclaim its first half lead in the 27th minute when Ayala stepped up for a penalty kick opportunity -- her sixth on the season. With this successful opportunity, the Cardinals entered halftime up 2-1.
The second half showcased increased drives from the Cardinals toward the Husky net. In all of regulation play, UIW registered 25 shots.
An HBU penalty goal in the 80th minute brought the score even at 2-2 and forced the game into overtime.
Ready to secure chances she had set up earlier, Ayala, assisted by
Brooke Hanson, slammed the ball into the net from the right of the box in the third minute of overtime play. This touch locked in UIW's 3-2 road win to put the Cardinals' SLC standing to 5-1.
