KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- After a 1-1 tie in regulation, the University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team fell, 2-1, in overtime against the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF:
The Cardinals relied on their strong defense to halt the Roos' six shots and three corner kicks in the first period, while countering with three shots and two corner kicks. Despite many opportunities, neither team was able to reach the back of the net and the first half ended with a 0-0 tie.
SECOND HALF:
UIW came into the second half with a strong offense, recording 10 shots (three on goal) and three corner kicks. Kansas City countered with six shots, including two on target. The Cardinals attempted to get on the board with four shots before successfully finding the back of the net and striking first in the 59th minute as Feldman, assisted by
Antonio Savi, scored a goal to put UIW up 1-0. The Roos tied the game up at 1-1 with a penalty kick goal in the 79th minute. UIW fought hard to win the game in regulation, firing off three more shots before the second half ended, but were unable to execute. Regulation ended in a 1-1 draw.
OVERTIME:
After a slow first overtime period in which the Cardinals fired off two shots and the Roos countered with one shot, Kansas City found the net in the 106th minute to lead the Roos to a 2-1 win over UIW.

UP NEXT
The Cardinals head back to Texas, traveling to Houston Baptist on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Sorrels Field.
