Evans competes at Oracle ITA Masters

SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's tennis student-athlete Gabriel Evans is set to represent the Southland Conference in the 2018 Oracle ITA Masters at the Malibu Racquet Club and Pepperdine University starting Thursday. Competition begins at 10 a.m. (CT) on Thursday, noon on Friday, and 11 a.m. on Saturday. Sunday's competition time is TBD.

As the SLC Player of the Year, Evans was invited to participate in the Oracle ITA Masters. Invitations were sent out to one man and one woman from each Division I Conference to participate, using similar criteria to the NCAA Tournament.

"I am very excited for Gabe to be chosen to participate in one of the most prestigious fall tournaments of the year," said UIW men's tennis Head Coach Jonas Andersson. "It's only a 32-player draw with the top ranked college players in the nation."

THE MATCHUPS
Evans is slated to face Zeke Clark (Illinois) on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Pepperdine. In mixed doubles, Evans and Veronika Golanova (Illinois State) square off against the third-seeded pairing of Daniel Cukierman (USC) and Salma Ewing (USC).

FORMAT
All matches (singles and doubles) will use no-ad scoring. Singles matches will play best two out of three sets, each set to six games, with a tiebreak at six-all. Everyone is guaranteed two singles matches. Men will utilize the no-let rule. The singles draw will be seeded from 1-32, according to UTR (Monday, September 17th, UTR weekly average).

Mixed doubles matches will play one set to six games with a tie break at six games all up until the semifinal round. Mixed doubles teams will be paired according to conference affiliation to the best of the ITA's ability. Some players will need to be paired with players from outside their conference.

LIVE SCORING/STREAMING
Live point-by-point scoring, provided by Tennis Ticker, will be available throughout the event. Live scoring can be accessed through the ITA website or through the Tennis Ticker app (free). Live streaming will be provided at both Malibu Racquet Club and Pepperdine. Tempuz will live stream two courts at MRC and Playsight will live stream at six courts at Pepperdine.
