Dear Cardinal fans,
 
Thank you for showing up this past Saturday to help build a great environment for our student-athletes. It takes several organizations and a lot of people to host a college football game. To put on a great football game, it takes the band, the cheer/dance team, the police department, the parking services team, the student body, the emergency medical team, the game operations team, the marketing staff, and many other groups. When all of these groups work together, a great game-day experience is built.
 
This past Saturday, Coach Eric Morris won his first football game as a head coach. The color red filled the stands, the postgame crowd on the field was excited, and even the visiting fans were complimentary of the job all of you did in helping bring a win for the Cardinals. The rain kept a few people away, but for those of you who were able to make the game, thank you for being part of a great college football game.
 
I have been part of several Division I football programs that have built great pride, tradition and excitement about the overall institution. With your support this past weekend, we have taken a huge first step towards building a great, traditional game-day atmosphere. Our next home football game is October 6th. We play Southeastern Louisiana with a 4 p.m. kick-off, and we hope to see all of you there.
 
That game is our Taco Cabana Hispanic Heritage Game. Taco Cabana is the game-day sponsor and we have the following planned:
 

• All in-game music will be Tejano/Spanish-themed music.
• We are teaming with our game-day concessionaire to provide a special concession item free for the first 3,000 fans in attendance.
• Last Saturday's crowd didn't reach capacity due to the rain, so we will be giving out the camo end zone replica field towels to the first 1,000 people on October 6.
• The UIW Fan Zone will include a bounce house, face painting, and more!
• Three students will be selected via raffle to win free lunch for a year from Jimmy John's.
• The first 500 fans will receive this year's UIW Athletics Fiesta Medal.

 
UIW is a great institution in one of the best communities in the country. Please help us build a great football program by being part of our game-day experience and cheering on our Cardinals.
